Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
A yes from me, still only 29 and defenders of his ilk seem to come into their best at this age, can also cover a number of positions, as well as CB, has fiiled in as a RB and DM.

If my choice would say no.

But I also said that about Dawson and he soon proved many of us wrong.

In moyes we trust.

Not as good as Winston, so no

Not good enough for Man Utd then not good enough for us. HTH

NO.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
He signed Rooney too but I guess every manager would have done that.

I understood Ronaldo played for Sporting Lisbon against them in a friendly and the players told Ferguson he needed to be signed. Not that Ferguson wouldnt have done that himself. The story goes they'd agreed the deal before they left on the coach.

That said Phil Jones hasnt turned out to be Man U's greatest ever player & we should avoid like the PLAGUE

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
Does Moyes think he can turn all Man Utds fringe players into world beaters?
This has to be a joke. A massive no from me. You need proven quality in defense and if we aren't buying it then I'd rather use an U23 and give them the chance and experience. We do have some half decent ones.

No. The bloke is a pudding bowl headed oaf. Conned Dean into sending off Feghouli after he fouled him and did theatrical agony roll.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
Absolutely not, a typical West Ham, make do and mend false economy signing.

Crassus 5:43 Tue Jul 27
Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
He ruined Jones by switching him from a young age into various defensive and MF positions as cover
He never developed a deep understanding of elite level positional play in any
Then came the odd ricket and then the injuries, one after another
Just say no, you know it makes sense

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
He also signed Ronaldo, arguably 1 of the best players to ever play the game, Sven.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
SIR ALEX SPEAKS:
"Jones, arguably the way he is looking, could be our best ever player." Ferguson said when they signed him.

"I think Jones may be one of the best players we have ever had, no matter where we play him. At 21 years of age, he is going to be a phenomenal player. I think he can play anywhere on the pitch.

Then again he signed Bebe , Taiibi & Kleberson

Blokes got a 'resting cum face' which I find disturbing.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
Jones was for a while a first team regular under SirFerg and he also accumulated 27 England caps. So at one stage he was not just good but would have been a regular at the likes of WHU and much respected by the fans.

To ridicule his past is unfair and really unjustified. But he is not that player now or anywhere near it.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
No. There's not one injury prone player we've signed that hasn't ended up being on our treatment table the majority of the time that they're with us.

Dyer, Carroll and Wilshere being the obvious ones. We also managed to break a few that weren't previously injury prone before joining us like Sakho and Reid. So lets not bring in players that are already broken.

Definitely stay away from the likes of Jones and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Phil Jones has never been “superb” for fuck sake.

Re: Phil Jones on a free - Yes or no?
I can remember when he was being hailed as the next Duncan Edwards, it didn't quite work out that way! It's a big massive no from me, surely we have got beyond signing injury prone players on the 'cheap' which have turned out to be fucking expensive!

I've seen oil tankers do an about turn faster than him.
